WELCOME TO BARKSDALE AFB

So you were notified you are headed to Barksdale AFB?
Laissez les bons temps rouler!! (Let the good times roll)
PCsing can be both a bright new adventure and a stressful & tedious process. My goal is to give you the best information possible to reduce that stress and tackle your PCS checklist with confidence.
A little about me, I am currently active duty and have been stationed on Barksdale for 3.5 years. I recieved my real estate license 2 years ago with a goal to help PCSing Airmen and their families navigate relocation smoother. From Airmen Basic in the dorms to Chiefs and Officers on their last assigment. Each PCS is unique as the service member making the journey.
To help get my fellow Airmen the most information as possible I created a "Welcome to BAFB" guide. Let's be honest, sometimes unit welcome packets just don't cut it and leave you with more questions than answers. Hopefully, this guide fills those gaps with both base and local info.
With the guide you will get a welcome email, a insurance item tracker (great for tracking items for TMO and record keeping) and a brief market overview. My goal is not to talk you into buying or renting on/off base...my goal is to help you determine what is going to work best for you and get you the information needed to pursue that path.
Once again, welcome to Barksdale AFB and Striker Nation! Look forward to seeing you around.

When do I actually get my orders?

Most members first receive an initial assignment notification email with instructions from their personnel section. It’s important to follow those directions, complete the checklist, and ensure you’re gaining any required retainability.

If things don’t seem to be moving, don’t wait it out—reach out to your personnel section and loop in your supervisor or First Sergeant. Unless you’re on short-notice orders, if you’re within 30–60 days of your RNLTD and still don’t have hard-copy orders, that’s a good time to raise a flag. Scheduling TMO, breaking a lease, and locking in appointments often require hard-copy orders, so delays can quickly impact your timeline.
